Code of Conduct

Download the Code of Conduct

As a student of thePursuit School of Ministry (PSOM), I commit to the following standards in the student code of conduct. I will do everything within my power to apply this code of conduct in my daily activities as well as encourage those around me to follow these same standards.

As a student of the PSOM, I agree to:
  1. Show respect to everyone I come in contact with at all times. I will value those around me and defer to others as Christ has called me to be a servant to all. I will be respectful of the authority God has put over me by being receptive to Godly counsel and correction from mentors and pastors.

Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men – as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
~1 Peter 2:13-17
  1. Be confidential in my communications and the information I receive as it pertains to the school and others. I will deem all communications confidential and private in nature unless given permission to share with others, and then only in a God-honoring, need-to-know, fashion. I will choose to “close the door” on conversations that are none of my business as well as disengage from conversations that include gossip and/or slander.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
~1 Corinthians 13:4-7
But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.”
~James 3:8-10
  1. Pursue unity within the student body as it relates to teamwork and being of one accord in Jesus. I recognize that the Body of Christ is made up of many members, but each member is valued and plays an important role in the function of the Church. I will utilize the Matthew 18 principal in dealing with interpersonal conflict.

I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe You sent Me. And the glory which you gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
~John 17:20-23
  1. Instill a grace atmosphere within the student body by thinking the best of my fellow students and forgiving them when need be. I recognize that I can politely set personal boundaries and will honor the boundaries set by others by being sensitive to other students’ needs. I will extend grace to others by assisting them with the best of my ability to be successful while attending the PSOM.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness towards us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
~Ephesians 2:4-10
  1. Show genuine appreciation to my fellow students for jobs well done. I will share the credit with those who work with me and offer help and/or support when a fellow student is in need, as well as value the expertise of others and seek their guidance in acquiring new skills.

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now…
~Philippians 1:3-5
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
~Colossians 3:23-24
  1. Endeavor to earn the trust of my fellow students by being reliable and by honoring any Christ-centered commitments I have made. I will believe the best in my fellow students and trust their God-given gifts as well as their personal sanctifying walk with Jesus.

Trust in the Lord with all you heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all you ways acknowledge Him, And he shall direct your paths.
~Proverbs 3:5-6
  1. Seek to be honest in all interactions with students, faculty and staff. I will communicate personal strengths and limitations and express opinions in a loving manner. I will also take responsibility for personal mistakes and be willing to face any consequences for my actions. I will hold myself accountable to seeking a strong relationship with God in regards to my personal integrity.

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
~
James 5:16
…speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ-- from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
~Ephesians 4:15-16
  1. Demonstrate patience in my interactions with others and my expectations of myself, the staff and those I interact with. I will attempt to “go with the flow” and proactively wait on God in regards to prayers being answered, conflict resolution, discernment, wisdom, needed resources, and grace for myself and others. I recognize that I may not see the end result in all situations but will be patient in knowing God is in control and He will be glorified in all things.

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.
~
1 Corinthians 3:6-9
  1. Show humility in all interactions with others. I will put the needs and success of others before my own by being secure in who I am before the Lord. I will learn from others and make myself available to pass on skills that I have that would benefit others as well. I will also listen and respect opposing/differing views from my own and be gracious in my responses.

…but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave – just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give His life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:26b-28
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
~
James 4:10

  1. I will live a life of personal holiness, conforming my will and lifestyle to the revealed will of God as found in the Scriptures. I will commit myself to a life characterized by the life of Christ in public and private. My lifestyle will be full of integrity in all areas.

but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

~1 Peter 1:15-16
